From August 25 to August 27, Councilwoman Heather Hutt (CD10) hosted a free summer camp for children in her District between the ages of 6 and 12 years old. The camp was in partnership with Los Angeles Recreation & Parks.

The weekend-long excursion provided sixty children from the district with the experience of a lifetime. Parents dropped off their children at the CD10 District Office after school on August 25, where they underwent a health screening before getting on the buses to head to Camp Hollywoodland (3200 Canyon Dr.). While attending camp, children were introduced to various new camping activities such as archery, smore-making, and rock climbing. Children then reunited with their parents that Sunday evening, August 27, back at the District Office.

“Our children are the future, and deserve every experience under the sun to give them the tools to succeed,” said Councilwoman Heather Hutt. “It was truly heartwarming to see the joy on their faces as they experienced new things, made new memories, and built lasting friendships with other children in the District. I cannot wait to bring them back next year, and carry on this tradition that means so much to the people of our community.”

Thanks to Councilwoman Hutt (CD10), the camp was completely FREE. Every child who attended enjoyed a weekend packed with adventure, ensuring inclusivity for all. Three meals were provided each day, as well as special camp t-shirts.
